To maximise the life or your Chanmaya yoga mat, we recommend the following:
Cleaning your mat
Chanmaya mats are machine or hand washable. The print will not fade and the mat shape will not deform irrespective of which cleaning method you choose. We do recommend washing the mat by hand with a wet cloth and a mild detergent. If you opt for a machine wash, select a gentle cycle, cold water. Wash the mat separately, and then hang to dry. Use a mild detergent and DO NOT add softeners or bleach. DO NOT IRON OR TUMBLEDRY. To speed up drying, wrap your mat in a towel and squeeze out the excess water before hanging to dry.
Regular cleaning of your mat is essential, as it prevents and removes the build up of your body’s oils, which can decrease grip over time. Depending on your preferred type of practice, and how much you sweat, we recommend wiping your mat clean after every use, and machine washing every 3-4 weeks. Please be aware that if you choose to wash your mat it needs a considerable amount of time to dry.
Using your mat
At the beginning of your practice, lightly spraying water on the top surface of the mat will help prevent sliding. The mat grips better when wet, so the more you sweat the less you slide.
Storing your mat
Always ensure your yoga mat is completely dry before rolling up and storing.
Store your mat in a dry place away from direct sunlight to ensure quality and colors are maintained.
